After a very exhausting preliminary examinations week, I decided to treat myself to a snack that I’ve wanting to try for the longest time. I visited the Churreria La Lola branch in Eastwood Mall for my first cone of their famous churros.
La Lola is a Filipino company that opened its first store in 2014. It opened more stores the following year and the “churros-craze” began.
There is usually a long queue of people in their branches so I was lucky that there were not a lot of customers waiting to be served when I dropped by.
From the classic Spanish fritter, they also offer stuffed churros called Xuxos, chocolate coated churros, and Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches. They also have iced coffees and sandwiches on their menu.
Trying it for the first time, I went with their medium sized classic churros which costs P110 and an additional P60 for the chocolate dip. It may seem pricey at first, but the medium-sized serving has six long pieces of churros which I actually find filling.
The fresh hot churros are already good to eat on its own. They are not that oily, not that sweet even with the extra sugar sprinkled on it, and most importantly not stuffed with air. The chocolate dipping sauce is also served hot. It has a rich flavour and just the right amount of sweetness.
The cone itself doesn’t have a cover for the churros but in case you’d want to bring home some, the store can provide paper bags and a lid for the dipping sauce cup.
But just a reminder, their medium-sized serving is something not to belittle. Eating it solo will make you feel like you have eaten one large meal. Two people can share a medium-sized cone. So it’s a good idea to share them with someone.
Would I go back again? Yes, definitely!
Churreria La Lola has branches in Power Plant Mall, SM Aura, SM Megamall, UP Town Center, Serendra, SM City North Edsa, Eastwood Mall, and Estancia Mall.
